Many school districts around Austin will be taking a full week break for Thanksgiving for the first time this year, rather than the traditional two to three days. This includes, for example, Austin ISD, Eanes ISD, Lake Travis ISD, Leander ISD, and Round Rock ISD. For many parents, in order to balance work and family responsibilities, this means filling in the week with some camp options.

In an effort to make your life easier, I have compiled a list of camps offering sessions during thanksgiving week. In my experience, fall and winter break camps tend to be a bit harder to find, especially for little ones, and often do not cover the full school break. I have tried to include camps in different areas in or near Austin, with a variety of price points, a few options for littles, and have focused on including camps that provide as much coverage as possible.

North 

Camp name: Cordovan Art School Fall Break Art Camps - Register in Round Rock | Georgetown | or Cedar Park

Details: M-W, November 19-21st. You can choose between 1, 2, or 3 days, with the option of enrolling in half or full days. Camp themes include Holiday Plate & Ornaments; Pencil Pastel Watercolor & Beyond; Anime Holiday; Christmas Out of Clay; Candyland Christmas; and Fall Festival. Cost: Two, half day sessions (9-12 or 1-4): $84; three, half day sessions: $118; four, half day sessions=2 day camp: $138; full, three day art camp from 9am-4pm: $144; 3-day extended care from 7:30am-6pm: additional $36.

  • This class is an active and fun introduction to the world of Broadway musicals. Students act, sing, and dance while learning famous material from Moana. $250 for the three-day camp from 9am-4pm. Extended Care is available from 8:30-9:00 AM and 4:00-5:30 PM for an additional fee of $20 each (AM care and PM care).

• Hogwarts: Triwizard Tournament | Grades 3-5 | November 19-21, 2018

  • Students dive into in the world of Harry Potter and sort into houses, visit Ollivander’s Wand Shop, and tour the school grounds, preparing for the Triwizard Tournament. This camp does not end with a camp demonstration. $250 for the three-day camp from 9am-4pm. Extended Care is available from 8:30-9:00 AM and 4:00-5:30 PM for an additional fee of $20 each (AM care and PM care).

Camp name: Camp Fun Brain Austin

Area: AHB Community School in Hyde Park (4001 Speedway, Austin, TX 78751)

Details: “Turkey mini,” Thanksgiving break mini session - fun and creativity at AHB Community School. Come for a day or for the full session- either way it will be turkey-tastic! Crafts, great stories, and a daily STEAM project.

Available dates: November 19th-21st, 2018

Camper ages: Grades PreK-5th

Hours: Drop off at 8-9am; pick up at 3:30-4pm

Cost: $165 for the three-day camp session or $60 per day

Camp name: The Coder School

Area: Central Austin (3616 Far West Blvd #109, Austin, TX 78731)

Details: Games Are Awesome - Using cool drag n' drop languages like Scratch or Snap to create new and classic games! Aimed at newbie and novice coders.

Available dates: November 19th-21st, 2018

Camper ages: 8-10

Hours: 9am-3pm

Cost: $175 for the three-day camp (They are currently offering an early-bird discount of $50 off for a limited time only; regular camp cost is $225).

Camp name: Crenshaw Athletic Club Thanksgiving Camp

Area: Central Austin (5000 Fairview Drive, Austin, Texas 78731)

Details: Crenshaw’s is offering a fun-filled program for Kindergarten through 5th graders whose parents are looking for all day activities during the Thanksgiving break. Activities include Gymnastics, Tumbling, Outdoor Fun, Trampoline, Bars, Beam, Rings, Fun Games, Arts & Craft, Recreational Swim, Computer Lab, movies, and much more! There will be no refunds for Thanksgiving Camp.

Camp name: Move Your Tale & Excused Absence Comedy - Thanksgiving Break Kids Camp

Area: Central Austin (ColdTowne Theater at 4803 Airport Blvd., Austin, TX 78751)

Details: Move Your Tale provides applied improv for youth, families and educators! This two day camp invites elementary school students to create an original, improvised show to be performed at 4pm on November 20. Taught by some of Austin’s most experienced and talented comics. All levels welcome.

Camp name: Sportball Thanksgiving Multi-Sport Outdoor Camp

Details: Multi-Sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with new skills from different sports. These well-rounded classes provide an amazing foundation for a lifetime of active living bundling a variety of sports.
